They are definitely fine consumer decks but should not be compared to the pro models. Overall, I like the brand and am glad they made these machines. So yes, there are “good” Akai decks IMHO.

Some more robust local libraries and archives still possess these recorders, but again, they are fairly few and far between.

Is Akai washer good?

It’s a great little machine and isn’t overly loud. Have washed everything in it including sheets and it has come out looking great. Good machine for a small space. Very happy with my purchase the washing machine has been great, good value for money.

Is the Akai aa-1020 good?

Sounds good but the AA-1020 sounds better, although its a lower down the Foodshane. Akai is not as popular in Sweden as Vintage gear from Marantz and Sansui. Becouse of that you can get them faraly cheap. And the are VERY good value for the money.

Is the aa-1135 a good receiver?

The AA-1135 is a great, in the middle, receiver and I was fortunate enough to purchase one in like-new condition. I was able to purchase it for $80 when it trended for $150 at the time. Great receiver with good options and it really had the warm sound, ample power and good bass that I like.

Akai is not as popular in Sweden as Vintage gear from Marantz and Sansui. Becouse of that you can get them faraly cheap. And the are VERY good value for the money. Key to a receiver with this sweet warm tone and low power is to get really efficient speakers (mine are full movement at 3w/channel).

What do you like most about Akai?

I think Akai in the mid 70’s to early 80’s BURIES the Pioneer, Sony and Sansui gear of the same period. Deep, accurate lows, detailed crisp highs, firm minds (without being harsh or brittle). Running my Akai’s thru a set of JBL L40’s that just THUMP my rump in the dumper. And that’s a GOOD thing! Superior build quality. Excellent sound quality.
