Bard Valley Date Growers, operating out of Yuma, AZ, provides Medjool dates under the Natural Delights brand and expects to handle more than 30 million pounds this year, all grown on 4,000 acres on the California and Arizona sides of the Colorado River.

Should Medjool dates be washed?
Know that all kinds of dates, dry or ripe, whether packaged or open, are not washed before reaching the consumer. It is therefore advisable to wash it well before consuming any type of date but be careful that there is no need to peel the dates.

Is there a difference between Medjool dates and regular dates?
Medjool dates are a FRESH FRUIT. That’s why you’ll find them in the produce section at the grocery store. Medjool dates have a rich, almost caramel-like taste and a soft, chewy texture whereas regular dates, commonly called Deglet Noor, are usually smaller and have a firm flesh and a sweet, delicate flavor.
Should Medjool dates be refrigerated?
Dates are best stored in the refrigerator in an air tight container to help them retain moisture. They can be stored up to 6 months in the refrigerator, but may lose moisture the longer they sit. Large quantities of dates can also be frozen for up to one year.
Do you eat the skin on dates?
You don’t have to remove the skin to eat it. Can diabetic patients consume dry dates? Dried dates still have sugar, though it is natural sugar found in the fruit.
