What is OMNICOLOR?
The industry’s first effective line of multipurpose color concentrates, OMNICOLOR™ offers excellent color performance across the broadest range of polymers, while helping to minimize costs.
What is plastic pigment?
Pigments are insoluble organic or inorganic particles added to the polymer base to give a specific color to the plastic. Pigments that are organic in nature are hard to disperse and tend to form agglomerates (clumps of pigment particles). These agglomerates can cause spots and specks in the final product.
What is a colorant masterbatch?
Masterbatch is a solid or liquid additive for plastic used for coloring plastics (color masterbatch) or imparting other properties to plastics (additive masterbatch).
How is Coloured plastic made?
Internal coloring is a method of coloring plastics by kneading colorants into them. Unlike external coloring, materials are colored evenly up to the inside, because colorants are mixed with plastics. Colorants used for internal coloring are generically called Plastic Colorants.
What is plastic colorant made of?
Plastic colorants are chemical compounds used to color plastic. Those compounds come in a form of dyes and pigments. The type of a colorant is chosen based on the type of a polymeric resin, that needs to be colored. Dyes are usually used with polycarbonates, polystyrene and acrylic polymers.
Are pigments colorants?
Colorants are either dyes or pigments. Technically speaking, the difference is that dyes are soluble in the host material—typically water—while pigments are not. Another difference is that dyes do not scatter light and look transparent.
What is masterbatch material?
A plastic masterbatch is made from a concentrated mixture of pigments and/or additives compounded into a carrier resin. Masterbatches are mixed into a base material at a specified addition rate in order to give the desired colour or property once the material has been made into the finished article.
What is colourant used for?
A colourant/colour additive (British spelling) or colorant/color additive (American spelling) is a substance that is added or applied in order to change the colour of a material or surface.
What are color pigments made of?
These are compounds containing structures of carbon atoms with hydrogen atoms attached that are formed in closed rings. Organic pigments include azo pigments, which contain a nitrogen group; they account for most of the organic red, orange, and yellow pigments.
What are omnicolor™ color concentrates?
OMNICOLOR™ color concentrates are based on a multipurpose compatible carrier system. These concentrates are suitable for use with a wide range of polymers at the addition rates recommended in the table below.
