What is Diflunisal 500mg used for?
Diflunisal is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat mild to moderate pain, and helps to relieve symptoms of arthritis (eg, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis), including inflammation, swelling, stiffness, and joint pain.
Does Diflunisal cause high blood pressure?
Diflunisal can make it more difficult for your kidneys to pass urine. This can raise your blood pressure and cause your body to hold on to more water, leading to or worsening problems such as high blood pressure, heart failure, and swelling of your arms and legs.
Does Diflunisal make you drowsy?
Upset stomach, heartburn, headache, tiredness, drowsiness, or dizziness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

Diflunisal has a long plasma half-life (8 to 12 hours versus 2.5 hours for salicylate), which permits dosing intervals of up to 12 hours. The drug is excreted in the urine, with two soluble glucuronide conjugates accounting for approximately 90% of the administered dose.
How long does it take for Diflunisal to work?
In certain conditions (such as arthritis), it may take up to 2 weeks of regular use before the full benefits of this drug take effect. If you are taking this drug on an “as needed” basis (not on a regular schedule), remember that pain medications work best if they are used as the first signs of pain occur.
