Is a Bama tuner the same as SCT?

SCT Pre-Loaded Tunes are designed for stock or lightly modified vehicles (cold air kits, exhaust systems, gear ratio changes etc.) and are not customized to your driving style and vehicle’s modifications. At Bama Performance, we have complete control over your vehicle’s PCM Custom Tuning Software.

Does Bama tuner have tunes?

BamaChips customers who purchased an SCT or Diablosport tuner or custom tune files are also enrolled in the Free Tunes for Life program for continued support by Bama Performance so long as the vehicle or owner has not changed. Please contact us when you would like to order new free tunes.

You can only change vehicles 5 times before the unit is permanently locked. To reset the changes or unlock the device, you will need to contact the manufacturer directly.

What can a SCT tuner do?

The SCT tuner will identify automatically what vehicle you are tuning and give you options on the fuel you plan to run from 87, 89, 91, and 93 octane. The better gas you use, the more aggressive – but safe – the tune will be.

If the device is married to another vehicle and you have access to it, simply return that vehicle to stock. You can use an “unlock” to change to another vehicle. If the vehicle isn’t accessible give us a call and we can set up an RMA to unlock the device for $175.

How much difference do Bama tunes make?

well when i put my bama tunes on, i definitely felt a difference. the street tune is decent for around-town driving, and helps you rev up quicker. the race is a combo of high rpm pulling and low rpm torque. for me, i noticed my car climbing rpms quicker over 4000 rpm. it even feels like i’m in the seat a little more. 4th gear improved as well.

Is the Bama tune too aggressive for daily driving?

(Race Tune) “It is so aggressive that we do not recommend it for daily driving as it may cause your vehicle to try to jump out from a stop and easily spin the tires…” anyone else have any feedback on the Bama tunes? You cant expect much from a tune like that, go get a dyno tune and youll feel the difference.
