The Thule cargo box hangs down approximately 3′ from the ceiling when it is hoisted up as high as it will go. The straps that come with the kit worked perfectly. There are 4 connection points on each strap so you can shorten the strap length up if your item is not too large. I was able to use one of the inner strap loops with the cargo box.
