Can caller ID be traced?
Private numbers, blocked, and restricted calls can usually be traced. However, unknown, unavailable or out of area calls are not traceable because they don’t contain the data needed for a successful trace.
Can I change my outgoing caller ID?
Click Lines in the left sidebar and then click the line that you need to change. From General > Outbound Call Options, set the External Caller ID to Use and then choose the desired phone number. Click Save.

You can get the ShoreTel to send Caller ID in E.164 format but it requires some digging deep in the bowels of ShoreWare Director. Be advised that ShoreTel have made it difficult to get to these settings for a good reason.
Why won’t my telco process my outbound caller ID?
Sometimes your Telco won’t process your outbound caller id and instead substitutes the first number in your range or the “Billing Number”. This might be because they have programmed the circuit to always send this number so this may need a call to them to find out if this is the case or if they will allow you to send individual Caller ID’s.
What happens if you send an invalid caller ID?
Most commonly they will only allow you to send a Caller ID that if dialled goes to the circuit that the outgoing call came from. This is so you can’t fake your Caller ID for nefarious reasons. If you send an invalid Caller ID, they will substitute it for your Billing Number.
Is caller ID required for SIP trunks?
I haven’t encountered this solution being required for SIP trunks as yet and if it is required the same solution could apply but there may be an easier method below. You can get the ShoreTel to send Caller ID in E.164 format but it requires some digging deep in the bowels of ShoreWare Director.
